Good morning OPSEU Local 596 members!

Please let us know if you would like to continue receiving communication from us regarding our campaign.

My name is Sarah Bukhari and I’m running for President at OPSEU Local 596. I am passionate about making our workplace equitable and resolving conflicts on behalf of the membership. I’d like to respond to some of the feedback we’ve received over the past week and tell you a bit more about my vision. My leadership style is democratic and empowering. I listen to my team and delegate effectively, making it possible for me to separate the operational tasks from planning ahead and developing a long term vision that takes into account competing priorities. I’m not afraid to make tough decisions and ask the hard questions that will protect our community and move everyone forward. To read my full bio and find out more about our campaign priorities, please look at our website and get in touch with us to let us know what you think. Follow the #OPSEU596 hashtag on twitter for updates.

Now, onto some key points:

1. All members are allowed to campaign for elections and organize events to gather together on campus. We will still be gathering on the 7th floor of the business building this afternoon, Tuesday, October 29 from 1-2 pm in room TRS1-067 to give members an opportunity to meet our candidates and talk.

2. We have put together this contact list ourselves based on our best guess that you are interested in union-related materials. If you do not wish to receive these emails, please unsubscribe by clicking this link or replying to let us know and we will remove you from the list. If there is anyone who you believe we may have missed that would be interested in receiving these messages, please send us their contact information. We put a lot of work into collecting this publicly available information and we promise to try and keep the number of emails low to respect your time.

3. We are committed to a fair democratic process and encourage members to get in touch if they are interested in running for elections or finding ways to improve the process.

4. We need your help! Please spread the word and get in touch with us so that we can build our campaign and strengthen the union! We are here to serve members and want to be responsive to your interests and concerns. Please engage with us to tell us how we can do better and how you would like to be involved.

Thank you, Sarah
